Happy Birthday Paula!

Love this picture off of Facebook. It's pretty
sad that I don't have more pictures of you
because we don't see each other too often!
You are the youngest looking fifty two
year old ever!
This was this last Christmas. Yes your eyes are
closed but I love the expression. I love how
involved you are with your kids and how much
they mean to you and what a great mom you
are to them. I love our long talks, phone calls
and workouts we have. They aren't too often
but one of these days we'll catch up. Ever since
we were little and when you took me door to door
to find friends for me, you have always been
concerned for me and helped me out.
I love you and hope you have the greatest next
year ever. You deserve it!
Cute of Monica and Cameron also!

Today was Chelsea's 25th Birthday! I can't
believe it! This is a picture of our family
get together for her birthday dinner on
Wednesday night. Such a cute couple!
Cort and Rodg and little Sarah. Also cute!
Ash, Ike, Linds and Keat. Cute face Isaac!
Check out the plates and glasses, that was
one of my many Mother's Day gifts!
A little reading before dinner. Check out that
book. It is 25 years old and a little worn out,
but everyday I would read it to Chelsea when
she was little and all the other girls. It is
all the nursery rhymes. They loved it, I think
someone else enjoys it too!
Yes, the book is bigger than Sarah!
Cortney was very insistant about having the
birthday dinner because she was so excited
to give Chelsea her gift. I'm not sure when
it first started, but Cortney started calling
Chelsea, "Buttons" and Chelsea would call
Cortney "Butts". Anyway, Cortney designed
this and made it for Chels for her birthday.
Chelsea admitted that it was her favorite
gift. That made both their nights! (If you
can't see, there is a lot of different shaped
and different colored buttons) Very cute
when you put it up to a painted wall!
The girls hanging out when the boys are out
playing basketball! (Notice Lindsey's Davis
t-shirt. It was one of my cheerleading shirts
from when I was in high school!)
We decided to come outside and join them.
Check out that form from Joey!
Such concentration from little sweat head Ike!
Of course Linds doesn't stand by watching,
she always joins in. That's Keat watching.
I didn't get any action shots of Keat, sorry!
Rodger, rebounding the balls! Such
a good sport!
This was taken this morning when she
dropped Sarah off and Chelsea was on her
way to work. I remember always wanting
Chelsea to grow up so I could see how she
would look, talk, act. It has gone so fast. Now
I get the satisfaction of seeing how beautiful
she is and what a great Mom she is. It has
been a fantastic 25 years!
So Joey asked me to tend so he could take
Chelsea to dinner. The boys were with their
Mom so Sarah and I went and visited Sally
and Rulon. It was so much fun. Aunt Sally
loved it, as well as myself. She didn't want
me to take her picture because she had been
out in the year all day. (Honestly, you should
see me when I've been in the yard all day!)
Isn't she beautiful! (Sarah too!) Speaking of
their yard, it was beautiful, as usual! (I'm
not real good about taking red eye out, so
Sarah's eye looks weird)
I think Sarah enjoyed the visit too!
While I was sitting there visiting, I noticed
the clock that was in the kitchen. This is the
clock that hung in Grandma Ellen's kitchen
when I was a little girl. Look real close and
you will see the bee bee shots in it. Great
memories!
When we got home, Ash and Dave were
there, fighting at who got Sarah. I think
Dave won. I really didn't have much
time with her so I will have to have
her again!
Fun day!

Happy Birthday Isaac 8 years old!

May 17th, 2010
Isaac is 8 years old today! He is the cutest
kid ever. He loves to stay really active and
usually is smiling all the time. For his birthday
party on Saturday, Chelsea and Joey rented a
room at the Bountiful Recreation Center. He invited
a bunch of friends and then everyone was there
from both sides of the family. We ate pizza and had
cup cakes and then presents and then swimming.
He had a great time!I was told to bring candles and so I threw in some
stick matches. Well I thought we could light them
off of a zipper or stricking them together, not the
case. We pretended! In the back ground
from left to right, Cortney holding Caroline, Angela
holding Sarah, Chelsea, Pat (Joe's Grandma)
Glen, Brian and Linds. Of course Isaac in the middle! The other night I went to babysit while Chels
and Joe went to the Jazz game. I had the boys
help me get Sarah changed into her pajamas.
They thought that was pretty fun. Do you think they like her at all?
I feel like the luckiest Grandma ever.
The boys are so sweet! Joey asked me before Sarah
was born, what I wanted to be called. I said
Grandma was fine or whatever the kids came
up with. Isaac helped out with this decision
on his own. I am known at "G" "Ma" Joan!
Pretty sweet, I like it! On Friday I picked
up Isaac and just he and I went to Boondocks
to play games. It was fun! Hope you have a great
day Isaac! Love you!At the party, Joey's mom had a great idea to take
the famous 4 generation pictures. Here is Norma
with me Chels and Sarah.Brad and his parents!
That is Joey's mom and her parents. I absolutely
love them all. They are great!
Me and my girls! I am so honored to be their
Mom! They are so sweet to me. It was a
good day!

May 15th - Sarah 2 months/Ashley 1/2 marathon!

Saturday, Sarah was 2 months old! I can't believe how
fast the time goes by. The beautiful quilt that she
is laying on, is the quilt Great Aunt LeAnne made
her. It is beautiful. Thank you so much for all the
time and love that went into it.
Starting this past week Chelsea went back to work
for only about 15 hours a week. She drops Sarah
off at our house to have her own little nanny Lindsey,
tend her. She comes every Tuesday, Thursday
and Fridays. On Fridays I am home so I get to
play too! This is after Linds and I gave her a bath.
This was actually 2 days before she was 2 months
and I was having a little photo shoot before Lindsey
stole her away and I left for work.
At her 2 month check up she weighed 10lbs.11oz.
Her weight was 44%, her height was 22 1/2 inches
at 53% and her head was 40.8 cm at 91%!
Look at those wide eyes! She has been smiling
and cooing for about a month now. So much fun!
Chelsea kept asking where her baby pictures were
so I thought I would show you how similar Sarah
looks to Chelsea. This is about the same age as she
is now. (Brad's a little older now :) )
Same wide eyes!
Same little sad face!
Same chunky legs! (I'm a little older now too!)
I obviously just got home from running.
We love you little Sarah. Hopefully you will
grow up to not only look like your Mom,
but be just as wonderful as she is!
Now on to Ashley! A few months ago Ashley
decided to run the Ogden 1/2 marathon. Some
ladies at her work said they would do it too but
Ashley was the only original one that stuck to it
and did it! One day before the race, one of her
co-workers sold her spot to one of Ashley's
good friends, Jenny.
I believe Ashley got up at 3:30 a.m. to get ready.
I crawled out of bed at 3:50 to braid her hair
and drive them to 25th Street in Ogden, where
they were bused up to the starting line,
which was in Eden. At that time in the morning
it was a little chilly! All pumped up ready to go!
I drove back home and at 8:02 a.m. I get
a text that simply said "Blisters" then at
8:11 a.m. I get a text that says "mile eight"!
I hurry and call Dave and told him I'd be to
his house within minutes. We made it there in
about 10 minutes, right before she crossed the
finish line and in time for me to yell to her so she
knew we saw her. She did great!
1 hour 53 minutes! She beat her time. She did
want below 2 hours but had said, for not training
much, she would be happy with 2 hours 15 mins.
Jenny finished 8 minutes ahead of her. (We missed
her finishing) They were pretty excited!
Way to go!
I saw so many of my running friends there.
I was so jealous that I couldn't do it. Maybe
the 5k next year!
Hanging out to wait for their bags. Isn't Dave
a good sport, he said she didn't even stink.
Now is that love or what!
Ashley had bought 2 new pair of shoes in the
last month but they still give her blisters. Dave
carrying her to the car because she asked him
too and once again he does it.
What a fun first half, running down Ogden Canyon!
She was upset because she forgot her head phones
but in the end she loved not having her music on
because she could listen to the river and the people.
Out of 105 girls in her age group, she took 16th place.
The first place girl was just 11 minutes ahead of her.
Jenny took 5th place! She said, "now thats
motivation!" She will be running her
next one June 12th.

Happy Mother's Day!

The last couple of weeks I have been thinking
about Mother's Day coming up and I started
writing down things that I remember about
my Mom! This last week, on May 4th
it had been 20 years since Mom passed away.
There aren't too many days that pass
that I can't say I don't think about her.
Aren't Moms the best?
Thanks to Jack for e-mailing
me these pictures! Aren't we cute!
A little out of order but I had to throw LeAnne,
Jacki and Paula in there also! Check out the
lamp and coffee table. I remember dusting
those every week!
I think Mom is beautiful here. I remember her
like this.
Aren't we cute! I believe this was our last
Christmas before we moved to Utah.
Here are some of the things I remember. These are
just a few. I'm sure my sisters will correct
my memories. Please do!
* McDonalds once a week. This is when we
were really really young and I believe she
was still married.
* In our very first house, Mom digging a
bomb shelter. She would put the dirt in
the little red wagon and take a different
path so she wouldn't ruin the grass. I
honestly can still remember the smell
of the dirt.
* She would take us to church every week.
I would play with the veins on her hands.
* Mom playing the organ and me sitting
up next to her.
* She would exercise and watch Jack O Lane.
* She would wrap toilet paper around the
back of her head at nights so her once
a week hair do would stay in!
* Mom painting the outside of the house
so we could sell it and move to Utah.
* Letting me read to her while she
sewed everything for us.
* Watching Lawrence Welk with Mom,
on Friday nights, while I would comb
her hair out before she would go and
have it done on Saturday mornings!
* Taking us hiking
* Waxing the car. One time something went wrong
so she brought out the automatic
waxer for the floors and used it on the car.
It made permanent marks on the trunk!
* Our yard was beautiful. Each year our
neighbor would try to get Mom to hire
his boys to do our yard. She never hired
them. Finally he admitted to her that our
yard was the nicest in the neighborhood!
* She took us to Sears to go school shopping
and I remember that she kept saying that
we could look for more. I remember going
in the corner and crying because I thought
she would go to jail because I just knew
we didn't have enough money to pay for it!
* Once when Paula and I went to Alaska, for
part of the summer, we came home and Mom
surprised us and made us desks that hung
from the wall. They were orange, with a
matching chair.
* Mom always taught us to pay 10% to
tithing an 10% to savings and you would
always be all right. (She learned that from
her Dad)
* She would spend every Thursday with
Grandma Ellen
* Once a month we would go to the "Warehouse"
(Grocery Store) and spend $100 dollars for the
month. Sometimes we would get a candy bar
to split between us all!
* Once a month we would go to Arby's in
Ogden!
* Once a year we would go to Chuck a Rama
when she would get her yearly raise.
* She was fair with everything. With each wedding
she would give an increase of a certain percentage
for inflation.
* Incredible secretary and fast typist.
* Plant bulbs at our homes
* Spent a week whenever we had new babies
* She had a bad foot and she never complained!
(unlike me!)
* She read her scriptures every day and had
a journal but you never knew.
* Her favorite last movie: "Little Mermaid"

As I look over this list, which a lot of memories
are missing, there are many things that I see
myself do and I know that my sisters do.
All of us are so lucky that we had
Mom/Grandma as our example!
Even though she isn't here anymore,
I see her live on through all of the great
Mothers we have in our families. I
read it everyday in all of their blogs
or I get to hear it in person from my
own daughter!
I love my Mom and all that she taught me.
She always worked really hard to make
everyone happy. On this Mother's Day
I wanted to tell my sisters
that I love them and what good Moms they
are and great examples they have set for
me. I think we have done pretty dang good!
I am so proud of all of our kids, who
now are Mothers themselves.

I've never been real fond of Mother's Day
because to me it's a day of, "Oh crap, have
I done everything that I was suppose to"?

It's always a weird feeling when Mother's Day
comes around and I don't get to give a gift to
my Mom, instead I feel she has given me
the sweetest gift that will last forever. . .
her determination and strong
will and hard work that will be an
endless and lasting memory that I
will keep forever!

Happy Mother's Day to the
Beecher Mom's and all Moms!
